This is almost exactly how I brew. I do a BIAB in my cooler mash tun. All the brewing water, no vorlauf, no mash out, no sparge, and I don't have to lift the bag out of the cooler. I just open the spigot to my brew kettle, and that's it. (clean up is easier too) I hit my gravi...

Please consider all grain with a "brew in a bag" method. You don't need to spend alot of money. No mash tun, just a bag in your brew pot that you are going to buy anyways. I think this beer could be a little inconsistent from year to year. First time I had it about 3 years back it was excellent. Last year I found it to have some stronger sour notes. This year, it's pretty good.

I like how you say it's skunky even though they use hop extracts. Hop extracts are usually stabilized in such a way to prevent the degredation of specific compounds and prevent skunking.

I like the Hacker Pschorr Munich Gold as well. Give that a try if you haven't. I once read that the German Helles Lager is the souffle or mousse of beer. Balanced, delicate, and delicious.

Right on Zak! Some people aren't good enough to drink certain beers...I guess only certain people are good enough to gaze at the Mona Lisa too.

The peppermint taste is actually wintergreen...which comes from the birch oil. An acquired taste...for sure. Boylan's Original Birch Beer (not the creamy red) is extremely good. Boylan's is always spot on with their carbonation too.

I liked the dogs! The last two days I've drowned around 50 or 60 beetles. They are invading our fruit trees. I got tired of that, now I just walk around, pick them off the leaves, and crush them in between my fingers. Gross I know...but sort of satisfying ;)
