Nationalism is a source of violence, not harmless jokes. Patriotism and nationalism is nothing more than a mask for hate. And btw I was posting jokes about Romanians too so how it comes that my jokes are a source of hate if I my self am Romanian? These accusations seem ridiculous to me.

The historic fact of the matter is that, just before Adolf Hitler came to power in the 1930's, anti-Semitism got its start by people making "jokes" about them, later turning into racial and ethnic slurs. The fact is that "jokes" intended to be humor are many times delivered with serious undertones, and that is what causes the problem. When done so, they are no longer jokes, but are offensive slurs against an entire racem religion, ethnicity, or nationality. They are harmful, they invoke hatred and oftentimes violence. Having just had the first opportunity to view some of the other coments here, I could not restrain myself from my adding my own opinion to the discussion with Nationalist69. The odd thing about what he said about ethnic jokes is that, in today's society, they are more aptly viewed as ethnic slurs, rather than jokes.

I have found these jokes on a site with this warning: "These ethnic jokes are, if anything, intended to poke fun at all nationalities equally. They aren't meant to hurt or insult anyone, and most jokes can apply to all ethnic backgrounds".
I don't think that humor should be the object of polical correctness as long as people keep decency limits within their society.
