It looks like I'm not the only one who collects these players. Currently I have 2 Newcombs, 4 Califones, and 2 Audiotronics. I'm probably the happiest with the Califone Listening Corner I own with the 12-inch speaker. The tube amp on that one really sings.

@fatcatbuzz All of the original Creedence singles from the 60s were released in mono, though some promotional copies exist in stereo too. I find myself preferring the mono mixes of these songs myself...they jump off the record better.

The biggest problem with these old acoustic phonographs is that they completely trashed the records after a couple of plays. The heavy tone arm and steel needles really rip into the grooves. Subsequent plays will show increasing distortion from damaged grooves.
