As a point of criticism:
While the boys played fine I thought it odd that they set up on the floor of Cactus and not the stage.
Talking with a friend afterward, he told me "they always play on the floor...it's kind of their thing"
Apparently because they are used to playing a ton of DIY and basement shows they prefer the closeness and the makeshift sound level of the floor.
But they're at Cactus, which has a killer sound system and Alex(the best sound guys in Milwaukee(in my opinion)) so why not take advantage of that.
You can tell by this video that their live performance suffers a bit:
Vocals are quite at parts
Guitar tones get lost
and the bass player has to stand facing the drummer so they can keep on time.
All things that could have been avoided if they played on stage and ran everything through the house(like all other bands do)
Absolutely's album is great (you should go to the link above and pay tons of money for it(really it's good(not joking, one of the best this year))) and part of the reason it's good is because their songs are huge and interesting.
The live show I saw came across as timid and amateurish mostly because they didn't take advantage of the room.
Just my opinion....I still loves them and will pay to see them again and again and again.
