Miss Brandi Russell is no stranger to the stage. She began as a passionate and determined young performer, who with her phenomenal singing voice and emotional range, escaped from an American "white trash" neighborhood into the professional musical theater world, and is now known as a Popstar in Europe.
Member of the American Actor's Equity Association, Ms Russell has performed many leading roles in various musical productions: Little Shop of Horrors (Audrey), Anything Goes (Reno Sweeney), Kiss Me Kate (Lois Lane), Rent (Maureen), The World Premiere of Meat Street (Flo Manfred), Grease! (Frenchy) samen met Joey Fatone van Nsync en Alfonso Ribero 'Carlton' van de Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, Vagina Monologen (leading lady), Disney World's Tarzan Rocks!, American Vybe (acappella pop group), The Beetlejuice Rock & Roll Revue, Universal Studios Orlando, Universal Studios Japan, and Holland America Cruise Line.
In 2008, Ms. Russell won the SBS Dutch televised talent show Popstars. This catapulted her career in a new direction: she was a member of a new popgroup RED, of whom the first single reached number 1 in the Dutch hitlist. The group, who focused on a much younger public, had thousands of fans, but Ms. Russell wanted to reach a bigger audience, with her own music and an image that was more true to who she was. Her first solo single, Broken Doll, was a dance-pop hit that stayed in the Dutch Top 100 charts for two months. In 2010, she was the openings act for A Night to Remember, an 80's pop concert with artists such as Rick Astley, T'Pau, Nik Kershaw, Paul Young and Marc Almond.
She has performed for events such as the Tour de France, the Ride for the Roses, Lego World, the Miss Nederland Finale and various GLBT Events, such as Koninginnedag aan de Amstel and Stockholm Pride 2011, where she was an official artist. Miss Brandi Russell is an advocate for individualism and equality, and is often booked as celebrity guest for events supporting the cause. She is an ambassador for Kika (non profit organization raising money to fund research for children's cancer) and is a presenter / jury for the Scholierentoer from the Revalidation Funds, a Dutch national talent show bringing teenagers physical handicaps together with teenagers without handicaps.
Miss Brandi Russell is currently busy with the final touches on her first solo album that will be released beginning 2012. She has sought long and hard to find the right team of co-writers and producers for this project, and is very proud to be working with such respected names such as: Emil Hellmann -- one of the founders of the famous Cherion Studios in Stockholm, Sweden, and producer of artists such as Michael Jackson, Kylie Minogue, Ace of Base, George Michael and Agnes Carlsson, also known for his SoundFactory remixes and hundreds of worldwide number 1 hits on pop and dance charts; Peter Hägerås, producer of artists such as Taylor Dayne with the hit song "Facing a Miracle" for the Gay Olympics 2010 and the homo-friendly group Straight-Up with their hit song "Show the World Tonight," and the classical singer Paul Potts new album; Eric van Tijn -- jury from the Dutch Idols and X-Factor -- and Jochem Fluitsma --Dutch power duo- together they produced 40 number 1 hits -; Bruce R.F. Smith -- who has written diversenumber 1 hits for artists worldwide (from the US to Europe to Japan), Yannic Fonderie -- a famous Belgium writer and producer; Alan Glass (Grammy Award Winner)--has sold millions of records and has written for older and newer artists such as Kenny G, Earth Wind & Fire, Sheena Easton, Jennifer Holiday, Lighthouse Family, Aretha Franklin, Caught In the Act, en Liberty X, Udo, Jocelyn Brown, No Angels --and the list goes on. This album is worth waiting for!
