Lucy is eighteen years old, physically. She is a diclonius. Her personality is sometimes harsh and unmerciful, while sometimes she just goes with the flow and shy. But, if you hit her on the head, her personality turns into one of a five year old, and only knows the word "Nyuu". But once she is hit on the back of the head again, she will get back to the real Lucy. She also hates humans, and she doesn't like others of her kind either.

A diclonius is a different type of species, that is born to destroy the human race and replace it with their own kind. Every diclonius is born with two horns that are shaped like cat ears, and they are also born with four vectors, which are invisibale arms. Lucy's vectors are two meters. Vectors can slice anyone or anything in half, or cut anything.

Lucy was always bullied, at age ten, because of her horns. She didn't have any friends, just a girl about her age. One day, she met a cute puppy that made her happy. She always fed it and took care of it. She never told anyone about the dog, afraid the bullies would hear about the dog and kick it, or hurt it in any way. But the only person she trusted with knowing about the dog was her only friend. The friend promised to keep the dog a secret... but she lied. The bullies were told about it, and they killed the dog, right in front of her. That triggered her first killing: All the kids that bullied her. Ever since then she had hated humans. After that, she was captured by a facility and they locked her up. After a few years, she broke out and killed most of the guards there.
