About Me:
I began by looking for support and advice and joined the support and pressure group 'Families Need Fathers' and then in an attempt to raise awareness of the travesty of the family Court system I joined the direct action organizations, Father's 4 Justice and Real Father's for Justice. Recognising that the situation will not change without political policy regarding the family and the family law system changing as well, I joined the Equal Parenting Alliance Party who launched in March 2006 with the major aim of changing the family law system. My partner Tracey joined the party along with me and was voted in as their Party Secretary and helped to organize their campaign for the Scottish Parliamentary elections in May 2007 where Chairman Ray Barry stood against the then Justice Minister, Cathy Jamieson. I leafleted and canvassed during the campaign and although the EPA didn't win the seat they did raise awareness of the situation not only in the constituency but throughout Scotland with their media coverage. I have left no stone unturned in my fight to see Mirin and will continue in my quest to change the law to ensure a child's right to be parented by both of its parents and hopefully to ensure that Mirin is reunited with the half of her biological family that her mother and the Family Courts tore her from, and so importantly gets to to see the sister both her mother and the family courts have denied her the right to see, my second wonderful daughter, Anya.
Music is my main passion, and at the age of 13 I became a punk, watching bands wherever and whenever I could. At this time my brother Robert taught me the basics of guitar playing and then I taught myself from there. At 14 I started my first band, Suspect Device, with me on vocals, then I started the band Warzone with me as vocalist and later, because of a problem with drummers who were always in short supply, I taught myself to play drums and became Warzone's drummer and backing vocalist. We recorded some demo tapes and also featured on Scottish TV in 1984 as part of the Year of Youth celebrations. After 6 years Warzone had run out of road so I joined Foolishhit as guitarist and we not only made some demos but did quite a bit of touring too, including Manchester, Leeds, Bradford and two tours of the Shetland Isles. After Foolishit I joined GFB (Generation Fight Back)on drums but did'nt do very much apart from a few gigs,I then I started the band Doubtin Thomas with whom I also made a couple of demo tapes. After Doubtin Thomas I did a 9 month stint on drums with External Menace which included playing loads of videoed gigs in Edinburgh and the very first Holidays in the Sun Festival at Blackpool Wintergardens in August 1996. I had a break from bands after leaving External Menace but rejoined them in January 2000 until, after a European tour, I suffered 2 strokes and had to have neurosurgery in May 2001 which left me in a wheelchair unable to walk or talk properly. I thought my music days were over but I painstakingly relearned how to play the guitar,thankfully I can walk and talk propely again almost 8 years later,I just started practicing drumming again so watch this space!
