Miracle of a voice

Having been living in a world of verbal silence for many years, in fact too long when I found my voice 8 years ago, at the age of 19, when introduced to faciliated communication.

At that time, a new world opened to me. I was no longer viewed by others as mentally retarded, autistic, brain damaged or incapable of being intelligent or having any feelings or awareness of the world that typical people experience.

Since that time, I have proven those doubters wrong and taken college courses in Philosophy, Music Appreciation, Public Speaking, Media Criticism and English Composition.

I stuggle each day to live in "your world" a world that is filled with so much sensory input at times. Everyday I have to cope in a world so unfamiliar since that is the only way I can survive, grow and exist in life.

I write poetry and short stories and love to listen to my music.

I want the world to see me as intelligent, capable, have a sense of humor and can do anything I so desire.
