About this user

Wide range of successful experiences in a variety of environments as a mathematics teacher and a professor of mathematics education. Creativity apparent in the development of Rithmetic in Residence, a summer math camp, and MOVE IT Math, a professional development program for elementary school teachers. MOVE IT Math has been acclaimed by the U.S. Department of Education (Promising Practices, 1994, 1995) and is being implemented in Alaska, Arkansas, California, Georgia, Mississippi, New York, Ohio, and Texas. Nearly 60,000 students are enrolled in MOVE IT Math/Project GRAD classes (www.projectgradusa.org). MOVE IT Math is also being translated into Spanish for dissemination in South America. The first use of MUEVETE, the Spanish version of the program, was in Caracas, Venezuela in 2004. The response to the program was encouragingly positive.
