This video is for submariners who served in the 1970s. The video includes two films. The first film, titled "Submarines: Background and Characteristics," was produced by the Navy in 1971 and features USS Thomas A. Edison (SSBN-610) and USS Sturgeon (SSBN-637). There are also clips of USS Nautilus (SSN-571). The focuses of day-to-day life aboard a nuclear powered submarine while on patrol. Includes excellent footage of numerous compartments: reactor room, showers, laundry, mess, galley, recreation, sleeping quarters, fire control room, communications, etc.., as well as good shots of equipment such as SINS (Integrated Navigation System), LORAN ((Long Range Navigation) and SONAR (sound navigation and ranging). Shows missiles being loaded and a Polaris Missile launch. Also includes film clips of the of NR-1 and DSRV-1 (deep submergence vessels) and the Navy's research vessels, ALVIN and DOLPHIN. Please Note! There is a slight picture distortion in the first half of the film.
The second film, titled "Ninety Days To Somewhere," was produced by the Navy in the mid-1970s. The entire film is 55 minutes long and can be purchased at www.MilitaryVideo.com. Featured in the film are USS Thomas Jefferson (SSBN-618), USS Ulysses S. Grant (SSBN-631), USS Von Steuben (SSBN-632) and the submarine tender, USS Hunley (AS-31). The focus is on the day-to-day activities of a particular crew, which is never identified in the film. Again, there is excellent coverage of the sub's interior. Also good coverage of the submarine returning to its base at Charleston, South Carolina and preparations for the next patrol while alongside the tender USS Hunley.

Operation Dewey Canyon: Produced by the Marine Corps in 1969, this film presents one of the corps most difficult and exacting helicopter assaults of all time. In a helicopter assault launched in January 1969 from the Vandergrift combat base, the 9th Marines assaulted by CH-46 Sea Knight helicopters into the Da Krong Valley in I Corps where a North Vietnamese buildup along Route 548 leading from Laos had been detected. Good footage of the 9th Marines assaulting into the valley where they secured landing zones Razor and Riley and established fire support base Razor. Three companies of the regiment's 3d Battalion are seen moving to establish fire support base Cunningham where a 155mm howitzer is fired. A company is seen attacking the site for fire support base Erskine. Tiger Mountain is finally captured. Elements of the 3d Reconnaissance Battalion move through the operational area, and the fresh 2d Battalion, 3d Marines arrive at Erskine. This film contains excellent footage of Marine Corps fighters in support of Operation Dewey Canyon. Footage of F-4 Phantoms and A-4 Sky Hawks in action. There is extensive Ch-46 footage, with CH-53 Sea Stallions and UH-1 Huey helicopters seen in various clips.

Video documents the activities of the 6th Infantry Regiment headquartered in Berlin, East Germany in the 1950s. Scenes range from the barracks to leisure activities to manuevers. Narrated by Army First Sergeant Richard B. Gilland, the video provides an overview of the duties and activities of the regiment. Included are brief scenes of soldiers relieving Russian troops to stand guard at Spandau Prison. Also shown are the regiment's barracks, mess hall and chapel.
Troops are shown doing physical training; drilling with rifle and bayonet, and machine gun; and cleaning weapons.
The regiment participates in field exercises prior to going on manuevers. They are shown moving cross- country to seize an enemy hilltop, with mock explosions going off as they ford a river.
