I was a Rural & Suburban Mail Carrier (RSMC) who was a proud member of the Canadian Union of Postal Workers (CUPW). I worked for an abusive employer. "Canada Post" exploited mine and 6,000 other RSMC's services- 'because they can'. The corporation knows it's breaking the "Canada Labour Code" on an ongoing basis and they do it because "they can" and not enough of us challenge them. We have a weak collective agreement but it doesn't mean they can continue to abuse us and threaten us with dismissal for not working for 'free'! We are paid for an allotted amount of hours which is grossly under rated and unfair. If we don't deliver all the work we're given, even if it's overburdening: management enacts "progressive discipline". They continue to abuse us until we fight back and then they get rid of us through unjust firings and accusations! Slavery is alive and well at the Canada Post Corporation.
