Back On The Chain Gang - The Pretenders (Cover)

Carly Manley performing Back on the Chain Gang during St. Paul high School's 80's Roadshow (2007)

    mikeclaw mikeclaw commented:

Pretty good cover, but I keep getting thrown by the big smile on the young woman's face. This is a song of loss and of mourning, and I don't know if she quite gets that. But she does a nice job singing it.

Bruce Springsteen: American Skin (41 Shots)

Bruce Springsteen sings "American Skin (41 Shots)" on Elvis Costello's Spectacle, January 2010

    mikeclaw mikeclaw commented:

@lollylawrence Springsteen never sang "killer fucking cops" in this song. You've been given bad info. It makes no sense for two reasons: (a.) He knew the song would be misinterpreted, just as "Born in the USA" was, so it makes no sense that he would interject something like that into a live perfo...

@starwarsnerdable This is not U.S. footage. This is al jazeera. There are many reasons I think that was the right call. You disagree. But your...

    Letterman loses it

FNC's Bill O'Reilly returned to the Late Show Friday night for round two with David Letterman over Iraq. In the show taped on Monday but not aired ...

    mikeclaw mikeclaw commented:

Letterman clearly handled himself better here. Letterman actually tries to analyze things, while O'Reilly boils it down to "If you disagree with my side, then you want America to lose." Letterman acknowledges that it's a complex situation, which it obviously is, and O'Reilly insists that it's ve...

@kristee96 You're right that the person had every legal right to film it. People get drunk in public and make asses of themselves, it's fair game. I would guess that this is faked, that the guy and the girl were both in on it and helping the djs make for some good radio. If it's real, then the guy is even worse than the girl is. Whatever she did wrong, she was not trying to intentionally humiliate him or hurt him. He chose to do that to her...

Van Halen - And The Cradle Will Rock

    great song

    mikeclaw mikeclaw commented:

Dr. Landy did a lot of good for BW and also a lot of harm. It's way too complex to simply say "he saved Brian's life" or "he screwed up Brian's life." In the big picture, I think Landy was a bad guy who did a lot of harm - but it probably is true that he saved Brian's life along the way.

Tie Domi on Probert, Showboating, Messier

Classic Domi in the first Probert fight. Probert kicks his butt. Domi starts asking the officials to break it up the moment his helmet comes off. And then then they're separated, Domi struts around pantomiming the championship belt, like anyone thinks he won that fight. Moron.

Supposedly Dylan named his album "Time Out of Mind" after that lyric in Zevon's song "Accidentally, Like a Martyr." I don't know if that's true, but I've heard it more than once, that this was the derivation of that Dylan album title. They're two great American artists, that's for sure.
