Do you have the Gospel in your heart or a Bible on the shelf? The Word of God is alive and written in our hearts, not on paper or on stone: Second Corinthians chapter 3 verse 3: Forasmuch as ye are manifestly declared to be the epistle of Christ ministered by us, written not with ink, but with the spirit of the living God; not in tables of stone, but in fleshy tables of the heart. Jesus Christ did not preach the Bible, he preached the Gospel: Matthew chapter 4 verse 23: And Jesus went about all Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the Gospel of the Kingdom, and healing all manner of sickness and all manner of disease among the people. Jesus Christ does not say to preach the Bible, he says to preach the Gospel: Mark chapter 16 verse 15: And he said unto them, go ye into all the world, and preach the Gospel to every creature. Jesus Christ teaches us to believe the Gospel and receive the Holy Ghost as first given in the Gospel: John chapter 7 verse 39: (But this spake he of the spirit, which they that believe on him should receive: for the Holy Ghost was not yet given; because that Jesus was not yet glorified.) Now you may believe those responsible for translating and compiling the first Bible were inspired of the Holy Ghost. If so they would have followed Christ's commands to the letter without fail. However, the first Bible was translated in one language only: Latin, the language of the Roman Empire. The Bible was forbidden in any other language for more than 1,000 years! A disobedient legacy, since Jesus commands in Mark chapter 13 verse 10: And the Gospel must FIRST be published among ALL nations. Christians are burdened by a book, and many worship that book of paper and ink, first published by men craving to establish a new world religion and a new seat of power with the potential to control the entire world through faith: Not farfetched at all considering who first published the Bible: the Roman Empire! Moreover, 2,000 years of controversy, confusion and skewed belief systems surrounding the Bible serve to distract us from the one key ingredient to salvation: the Gospel. Believers of the Bible argue that you must accept the whole Bible and not pick and choose and that Jesus (being god) inspired the whole Bible, yet Jesus commands us to believe the Gospel. Mark chapter 1 verse 15: The time is fulfilled, and the Kingdom of God is at hand: repent ye, and believe the Gospel. In its purity, simplicity and completeness the Gospel illuminates God's commandments and the fulfillment of scripture and everything we need for salvation. We need only believe the Gospel. Believers of the Bible argue that the canon of scripture is closed, yet Jesus gave us the Holy Ghost to receive comfort, inspiration and DIRECT instruction: John chapter 14 verse 26: But the comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you. Some believers of the Bible say the warning at the end of the Book of Revelation applies to the whole Bible, yet the Book of Revelation was written well before the first Bible was published. The warning in chapter 22 verse 18-19 clearly applies to "the words of the book of this prophecy". Jesus Christ never closed the canon of scripture: He opened it forevermore to all true believers of the gospel! True believers of the Gospel face the same challenges today from rigid belief systems as Jesus Christ did in his day. I admire the prophets and the apostles and their inspiring words of God, but Jesus gives us the Holy Ghost so we too can have profound spiritual revelation. In a world of darkness obscuring the truth, we can trust only a direct connection with God through the precious gift of the Gospel of Jesus Christ and the Holy Ghost. Contemplate and meditate on the pure words of the Gospel. Welcome the Holy Ghost to abide within you. Be a sacred temple of the Holy Ghost, free of all iniquity, and you will have direct revelation of the living God, just as Jesus Christ intended. Believe in the Gospel and keep the Word of God where it belongs, in your heart, not on a bookshelf. May the glory of the living God our Father, through Jesus Christ, the Gospel and the Holy Ghost, abide with you always.
