About this user
After attending the Staatliche Film Akademie Baden-Württemberg, Mickey finished his formal education at the Lazi Akademie - European School of Film and Design in Esslingen, Germany. He began his career under the direction of academy-award winner for special effects and Roland Emmerich's "2012" co-producer Volker Engel (Universal Soldier, Independence Day, Godzilla).
After winning several awards for his work as a freelance producer and director for music videos and commercials he moved to Berlin, where corporate orders came rapidly. In 2007 he founded his first studio for film and photographic design in Berlin, two years later another one in Frankfurt (Germany) and one in Prague (Czech Republic). Known for the broad range of subject matter he is able to interpret, he is widely recognized for his unusual people portraiture, his editorial photography, photo illustrations, photographic design and repertoire of art photography. Works like "Wasteland", "Operation Valkyrie" and "Promised Land", established him in a short time as an internationally renowned art photographer.
Because of its extremely realistic depictions of violence and often provocative, public performances, Mickey McCooper is one of the most controversial, German photo, video and performance artist of our time.
His works has been shown in numerous exhibitions in the USA, UK and Europe. In addition, he has photos in the permanent collection of museums and galleries.
Mickey McCooper lives and works in Berlin, Frankfurt and Prague with his wife and two children.
