His father, a professional musician (Saxophone, Piano), recognizes Michael's talent very early on when Michael came up with his first tentative melodies at the very young age of 7 and had written his first songs, by the time he was 12. He knows at a very young age that he has no intention of becoming an office worker, pro footballer or train driver. Even at an early age he is wise enough to know that worldwide success is not achieved by singing along to a karaoke machine in his front room: He wants to know everything there is to know about this business. When he is still very young Michael decides to go and discover places that have 'inspired many musicians to their greatest masterpieces'; Liverpool and Manchester, New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco and Paris. He works in an array of recording studios, watching the pro's moves and tricks and does as much background and session singing work as he can get his hands on. He keeps his head above water taking any jobs that come his way; tea boy, call centre agent, kitchen porter, English teacher and translator. After years of serving his apprenticeship he is now ready to present himself and his music to the public. He returns to London and starts playing some of the most renowned independent clubs in town; 'The Barfly', 'Borderline', '12 Bar Club', The Cobden' and 'Scala'. Michael Ray proves a big hit with audiences in the London music scene and earns the respect of fans and fellow musicians alike. With this success under his belt he starts recording demos of his songs in different London recording studios. Now Michael is ready for the next step in his career. His massive back catalogue of 150 self penned songs are now waiting to be discovered by a broader audience.
