Michael Hegeman - A Violinist in the Romantic Bel Canto Tradition.

Michael Hegeman is celebrated by audiences and critics for his romantic Bel Canto sound and passionate performances.

Internationally renowned artist Rudolf Koelman, a student of Jascha Heifetz, described Hegeman's playing as follows: "I like his playing very much; very precise, perfect intonation, nice timing, and good style!"

Mr. Hegeman produces a characteristic sound which is immediately recognizable as his own. His unique style of playing exhibits a warm and sweet tone with expressive melodic phrasing. His golden tone is shaded by a flexible vibrato which adds colour and emotion. Furthermore, he is known for his individualistic interpretations and use of portamento and rubato.

Mr. Hegeman carries on two traditions of playing.
Having studied with Mr. Pavel Šorm, the former Concertmaster of the Radio Philharmonic Orchestra and a teacher at the Conservatory Utrecht in The Netherlands, he was taught the Franco-Belgian and Russian tradition of playing. Michael's playing uses the best of the two traditions; reminiscent of the old masters of the romantic Bel Canto tradition of violin playing.
