Like his tune "Jack of All Trades" says, Santa Cruz-based songwriter Michael Gaither has done a bit of everything: journalist, teacher, even a stint as a joke writer for Jay Leno. All roads meandered around and eventually led him to music. And writing.

He's always looking for a good story, and with two releases under his belt - "Spotted Mule and Other Tales" (2006) and its autobiographical follow-up "Dogspeed" (2009) - Michael is building on a collection of original story songs that usually center on one of three topics: Animals ("Roselle", "Not Stubborn Not My Mule"), Local landmarks ("I Miss My Town", "Where'd the Time Go?") and tales of the everyday ("Highway 17", "Hang It Up").
