MG Dance Studio
The name was a combination of efforts between teachers and students at the dance studio. From kids to teens to adults, they brainstormed together and realized that each person cared about dance. It was as if each person was learning to dance in their own generation, and thus MY GENERATION dance studio was named. The kids feel that it is their time to shine, the teens feel that it is their studio to progress their passion, and the adults feel that they can learn new dance moves. Owning up to the exuberance that dancing makes each of them feel, MG proposes that dancing can be for any age- kid, teen, or adult, for any and all generations.....
MG construction began in September 2007, with the grand opening in November 2007. The owners targeted this area because El Monte did not have a dance studio with this emphasis in latin roots. They believed that with the majority of the residence in El Monte being latin, it would be a great location, close to schools, to target children and give them an opportunity to learn and strengthen their roots. Although the strength of the studio's teaching is latin, they also specialize in other rhythms like samba, hip hop, belly dance and punta amongst many other forms of dance.
MG wanted to teach the community the passion that dancing can bring out in each of us. Loving the music that they grew up with, MG wants to teach the younger generation how to appreciate --at any age- music that represents the roots of where they came from, not just the hype of top 40 music. MG strives to educate the community with an emphasis in fitness, while still having fun. MG is still growing as a studio; they foresee the studio one day being a universal studio, where the studio progresses its realm of dances to include tap, ballet, folkloric, swing, jazz, funk, etc
