THE MERMAID: an opera in three acts

Based on the fairy tale "The Little Mermaid" by Hans Christian Andersen
Using Hans Christian Andersen's original tragic ending of The Little Mermaid, this three-act opera, written between 2007 and 2009, approaches the story with a sense of grit and candor, revealing a stunning narrative of life, love, sex, loss, and death.
"The Mermaid" was premiered on May 6, 2009, in Oberlin College's Wilder Main Lounge, and enjoyed sold-out performances during both its initial run, as well as its second run, beginning May 24.
