Åslen piston kaaviokuva esitetään Haldin kirjassa.
Åslen ja Taalainmaan pistot muistuttavat toisiaan, mutta Åslen pistossa on yksi iso peukalolenkki enemmän, ja uusien silmukoiden kiinnitys edellisen kerroksen reunaan on erilainen näissä kahdessa. Åslen piston alussa poimitaan neulalle peukalon takaa 1 pikkusilmukka (vasen!), sen jälkeen peukalosilmukka etukautta, ja lopuksi neula pujotetaan peukalosilmukan ja neulalangan ali. Kiinnitys edellisen kerroksen reunaan on Bottom1+F1, eli pystysuunnassa poimitaan kaksi lankalenkkiä ed. kerrokselta.
Ruotsin Åslesta suosta löydetyssä neulakintaassa käytetty pisto. Kinnas on peräisin n. 1510 - 1640-luvulta. Kintaassa oli oikeaksi puoleksi valittu työn nyörimäinen nurja puoli.
Yleensä peukalon takaa poimitaan oikeanpuolimmainen pikkusilmukka (tai -kat), mutta Åslen ja Taalainmaan pistot tekevät poikkeuksen: Tässä poimitaan joko vasemmanpuolimmainen (1 kpl), tai sekä vasemmanpuoleinen että keskimmäinen (2 kpl).

Åsle Stitch and Dalarna Stitch resemble each other except that in Åsle Stitch there is one big thumb loop more, and the connection to the previous row is different from each other in these two stitches. First pick up 1 small loop (on the left!) behind the thumb, then the big thumb loop from front to back, and finally the needle goes under the thumb loop and the needle yarn. Connection is Bottom1+F1, ie needle picks up two loops, first one lower, and the second one at the edge.
A stitch used in a mitten found in a bog in Sweden, Åsle. The mitten has been dated approximately to the years 1510 - 1640. When found, then reverse side had been chosen as the right side. On the reverse side the surface structure looks ropey.
In most other nalbinding stitches one picks up the right loop behind the thumb, but Åsle Stitch and Dalarna Stitch make an exception: In this one one picks up either the loop on the left (1 loop), or the loop on the left and in the middle (2 loops).

Please do notice that the movements are slow on purpose, and that due to some difficulties combining suitable light and the position of the video camera, and that I wanted to see my hands both irl and on the small video screen, I had to keep my arms and hands in a bit akward and clumsy position, so the movements may not look "natural".
