S. R. Trust, which manages Meenakshi Mission Hospital and Research Centre (MMHRC) is the 600 bed dynamic multi specialty Health Care Institution was established on 1985 (Reg. No: 291/85 Dated May 9, 1985), radiates from Madurai. Over 20 years, S.R.Trust implements socio medical activities among the needy poor persons of southern districts in Tamil Nadu with the mission of "World class care within every body's reach".
Some of the activities are:
Free meals - Daily about 150 patients are provided with 3 times nutritious meals at free of cost.
Save the little hearts - A programme to provide free corrective surgeries for children living with cardiac diseases. So far we have successfully carries out more than 150 free cardiac surgeries.
Camila Children Cancer Care to the children - A unique program to support the poor little children with cancer by providing comprehensive health care and psychological support needs to create a hale and healthy environment.
More than 60 children have been benefited under this program.
Regional Cleft Lip/Palate Centre-MMHRC - Provide free corrective surgeries for persons living with Cleft Lip/Palate. More than 5000 cleft lip/palate surgeries were successfully conducted.
Family Planning program is to provide safe family planning operations. More than 25,000 surgeries have been performed so far.
Telemedicine centre - In collaboration with ISRO, Telemedicine has been initiated to make available healthcare to the doorsteps of poor people.
Medical/Health Camps -- More than 30 health camps are conducted every month in collaboration with NGOs, clubs and philanthropists in remote villages.
Microscopic Centre-RNTCP- WHO. Tuberculosis (TB) Control Programme - Under revised National TB Control Programme (RNTCP) of WHO, the district collector & the district TB Centre has sanctioned a microscopic centre and DOTS Providers training at S.R/MMHRC.
Hospice: In association with The Lions Club International & Lions Club of Madurai Vaigai a Hospice Centre would be set up with 25 beds for people who are at the edge of their lives.
Blindness Control program: "Vitamin Angels Alliance" has tied up to supply multivitamin supplements to rural children in Madurai District. 1.1 million Children have been benefited.
Direct Relief International, (DRI) USA: Since 2004, DRI supports the hospital by medical supplies and equipments to help the poor and the needy people.
Americares, India - Incorporated recently with Americares, supports received as 1.5 crore worth of medicines to serve the poor patients in the hospital and outside organizations.
