MedStar is the exclusive 9-1-1 provider for the City of Fort Worth and the Client Cities of Blue Mound, Burleson, Forest Hill, Haltom City, Haslet, Lakeside, Lake Worth, River Oaks, Sansom Park, Saginaw, Westover Hills, Westworth Village, and White Settlement. Our system is the 19th largest in the nation, with an annual operating budget in excess of 18 million dollars. We also provide interfacility ground transportation, local non-emergent response, Bike team, Mounted EMS Team, and special event EMS for the annual Stockshow and Rodeo, NASCAR/IRL races, and concerts.

The MedStar Service Area encompasses over 400 square miles with a population of approximately 672,000. responded to 85,956 emergency and non-emergency calls in 2005, 93% emergency. Along with a diverse population the Ft. Worth area offers world class museums, Botanical Gardens, The Bass Hall, Historical Stockyards, Texas Motor Speedway, several universities, Brahmas Hockey, Cats Baseball, and our new Flyers Basketball. As part of the 19 county North Central Texas region with a population over 5.5 million, residents enjoy a variety of entertainment and recreational opportunities.
System Status Plan Units are flexibly deployed using a defined system status plan, managed primarily by System Status Controllers (SSC) at our on-site Communications Center. All of our SSC must be Emergency Medical Dispatch (EMD) certified. The strategic posting plan is based on historical demand patterns with adjustments for peak volumes and special events. It is not unusual for the MedStar system to have 25-28 active units deployed throughout the service area.
