Medafor, Inc., was founded in early 1999 to develop and market an innovative breakthrough in hemostatic technology based on engineered biopolymeric microporous particles. By May of 2000, Medafor, Inc., had developed its business plan, long-term strategies and complementary objectives, had hired the key members of its management team, was situated in its new facility in Minneapolis and had completed its first capitalization round. Medafor has applied for and been issued patents protecting its new MPH® (Microporous Polysaccharide Hemospheres) hemostasis methodology and delivery systems.
In June of 2000, Medafor, Inc., established a medical advisory board of leading medical experts in hematology, wound management, trauma and medical device technology. By late 2000, Medafor completed a second round of financing together with initiating pre-clinical testing of MPH at the Minnesota Medical Research Foundation.
The company is in the process of developing market-specific applications, delivery systems and strategic partnerships for fast-track commercialization.
