I'm a Civil War buff -- I have several ancestors who fought for the Confederacy. I try to go to as many Civil War battlefields, sites, and events as possible.

Lighthouses are interesting. I have been to all of the lighthouses on the North Carolina coast (and climbed to the top of Currituck Beach and Cape Hatteras lighthouses) and Old Cape Henry in Virginia.

And the two interests are related: during the Civil War, the Confederacy took over the lighthouses in the South and stopped them from being lighted. That was to prevent the Yankee navy from using them to assist in their blockade of the South; and in turn the South used them to signal their blockade runners bringing supplies into port.


So far I have only uploaded low-res video taken with my camera phone. Mainly because it is quick. At some point I hope to edit and upload some video from my camcorder.
