Hailed by the San Francisco Chronicle as a highly sensitive musician with a superior command of the instrument and a presence and projection that mark the real soloist, and by the Los Angeles Times as a brilliant, technically effortless performer with unflagging taste, violinist Clayton Haslop made his professional solo debut at age 20 under Sir Neville Marriner and the Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra touring six major cities of the western United States. These critically acclaimed performances not only lead to numerous engagements with orchestras, they also resulted in his being appointed founding violinist of the Los Angeles Piano Quartet at Marriners recommendation.

Having toured and recorded with the Los Angeles Piano Quartet for eight seasons, Mr. Haslop left the ensemble in 1986 to focus more fully on an emerging partnership with guitarist Jack Sanders resulting in two recordings (Centaur and Townhall labels), tours of North America and China, and numerous masterclass appearances. The 2000/01 season celebrated the birth of the already critically acclaimed New Hollywood String Quartet of which he is first violinist.

Mr. Haslop has served as Concertmaster for the Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra, the Dallas Opera, the Santa Barbara Symphony, the Los Angeles Music Center Opera, and the Pacific Symphony. He is the solo violinist and concertmaster on many Hollywood movie soundtracks including The Matrix, Titanic, Ratatouille, The Incredibles, Up, Star Trek, Jurassic Park, Benjamin Button and The Perfect Storm.

Clayton Haslop was coached extensively by the legendary Nathan Milstein. At the University of Southern California he received the Heifetz and Percy Faith Scholarships for musical study and tutored under noted violinist Eudice Shapiro. In addition to teaching privately, he has been a faculty member of Pomona College and Santa Monica College. Mr. Haslop performs on a rare 1782 Storioni violin.
