Welcome to our Youtube site - I'm presenting a variety of video clips featuring various aspects of Koryu Uchinadi, some vintage film footage I've collected over the years, a few demonstrations, some rare historical photos and a little personal stuff, too.

Hope you enjoy your visit here and make the time to drop by my official website located here www.koryu-uchinadi.com
About Me:

Originally from Canada but migrated to Japan where I married and spent many years before being recruited to teach in Australia. Been involved in the fighting arts all my life and decided early on, "why not live my dream," and was able to successfully turn my passion into a profession --- have never regretted that decision.

I'm very competitive by nature---a trait reflected in pretty much everything I do. I'm also a work-a-holic and love what I do --- who wouldn't?

I've worked very hard to accomplish what I have and respect anyone who holds the same values.

I'm married to a remarkable woman named Yuriko, and we have two wonderful kids; Bianca [21] & Taylor [19] both now university students.

I am living "my dream"...and loving it ;-)

Use to read your articles in Combat magazine (UK) back in the 90's. Always found them very interesting and nice to read as the topics were being researched rather than 'parroted'. Glad to see that you're still carrying on and going strong. All the best.

Hello Sensei Mccarthy, does chatan yara kusanku( standard form) predates Kyan no kusanku ( Matsubayashi ryu)?

Sensei McCarthy, thank you for this page and your books. They have been invaluable to me in my search for more orthodox versions of the kata I have learned over the past 30 years. Through your efforts I have gained a greater understanding of the kata and have a more useful bunkai at my disposal.

Sensei,
Your recent posts showing various masters in their prime are unbelievable! I honestly thought that there was little left out there by way of video footage that I had not seen. Once again you have suprised me!
The only thing that could top this off would be if you somehow found some footage of Miyagi Sensei himself :-) ha ha!
Sincerely you have made my week, I am a very happy boy after watching Yagi sensei's excellent seipai!
Thank you!
