- Red Spectrum Pictures
In a short explanation: I use Aquarian Super Kick II Head for the beater side and I tune that quite low. Those heads seem to give off quite a clicky sound when tuned lower and their super dead (don't give off a lot of bwowowwow sound after being hit) I then took a small bathroom towel and folded it into a 12ft square and duck-taped it to the back of the resonant side of the bass drum(Remo Ebony black bass skin.) I tuned the front pretty tight and the kick drum doesn't have too much sustain. This works great for getting a quick attack with that "click" sound with it.
What it takes away is more of a woofy sound which sounds nice for more jazzy stuff and that slow rock sound.
Hope that helps a little!
