Matt began his career as a photographer ten years ago when he first started shooting sport and local news for his hometown newspaper the Yorke Peninsula Country Times in Kadina. This resulted in what would be the first front page photo of dozens that Matt achieved during his newspaper career.

During 2003 & 2004 Matt studied an Advanced Diploma in Commercial Photography as well as freelancing for numerous clients and publications around Adelaide.

In 2005 after successfully completing his studies Matt began freelancing for Messenger Newspapers and The Sunday Mail while continuing to work as a freelance commercial photographer.

After 18 months of freelancing Matt moved to Gladstone, Qld where he worked full time for a daily newspaper called The Observer. Matt stayed in this role for a further 18 months before accepting a full time job offer from Messenger Newspapers in Adelaide.

Matt worked for Messenger Newspapers for just over a year when he was offered a position as a senior photographer at The Advertiser. During his short time at The Advertiser, Matt began to realise that his passion for photography no longer lied in working as a staff press photographer and after 7 months and numerous published photos including three front pages he left The Advertiser and started to run his own business full time.

Due to Matt's extensive experience working as a press photographer he has had the opportunity to shoot a diverse range of subjects which has helped him develop excellent technical and artistic knowledge in all styles of photography.
