This eighth adaptation of the timeless Mark Twain novel casts Elijah Wood as Huckleberry Finn, the half-literate son of a drunk who runs away from home and follows the Mississippi River with an escaped slave named Jim. Along the way, the duo encounter adventures with colorful characters like The King and the Duke, two con men who impersonate British visitors in order to swindle two sisters out of their fortune. Jim also re-educates Huck away from the racist views that he has grown up with.

Disney's 1986 Flight of the Navigator combines a strong ensemble cast and classic '80s soundtrack with dazzling special effects for a high-flying sci-fi adventure. While searching for his little brother in the woods, Even more mystifying is that David hasn't aged, nor can he account for the time lapse. Meanwhile, NASA officials stumble upon a futuristic spacecraft and are determined to assess what David knows about it by locking him in a top-secret lab for scanning and testing. His only chance of escape is in the spacecraft manned by Max, a wisecracking robot. Cramer gives an earnest performance, while enough one-liners and imaginative animation will keep families engaged. Rated PG.

Shipwrecked (1990) is an action-adventure film intended for family viewing. The movie was produced by a consortium of Scandinavian companies and released in the U.S. in a dubbed English-language version by Walt Disney Pictures. Shot on location in Fiji, Norway, Spain and the United Kingdom, the movie is a dramatization of Norwegian author O.V. Falck-Ytter's book Haakon Haakonsen: En Norsk Robinson (Haakon Haakonsen: A Norwegian Robinson). This adventure story aimed at young readers was inspired by Daniel Defoe's Robinson Crusoe and published in 1873. The film has received favorable reviews as a well-made adventure story for families.

The Rocketeer
