The hardware may look the same but ram and hard disk have different firmwares and have to be certified from Apple and the tests are way harder. talking about displays, acer and toshiba ...

@BenitoraSan sometimes i run a Gentoo distro i compiled myself on VMware on my iMac, so defrag is not insanely hard. in some cases it may be *enough* stable, but its not anywhere as stable as Mac OS X and its way slower, it can't be faster on the software level.

@wehatemacs my system needs. OS X is not dumb as Windows and loads everything into RAM, that's why it's that much faster. your setup is a PC so i'm pretty sure that i'll be probably right.

for you a best OS is an OS that runs more apps. for me it's a UNIX OS that uses the GPU's stream processor ...

@CMI1986X64 Corsair is just the first example i was sure of - every brand does the same for Apple. If your RAM wont fail in 3 years mine wont ever fail probably. I still have SDRAMs 133 from my PowerMac G3 that are working perfectly.
