Only 16, Massad is an accomplished performer whose unique and fresh sound has attracted a large fan
base.
Massad's Alternative Pop style is a combination of pop, jazz, rock, musical theatre, electronic, classical &
other genres.
As one of the top 40 songs in the 2008 Play It Strange song writing competition, Massad's song Runaway
was recorded at Auckland's York Street Studio. Massad's journey as a singer/songwriter had begun.
2009 highlights included competing in the finals of the Auckland University Songwriter of the Year
competition; playing the lead role of Riff in the Baradene/Sacred Heart College production of West Side
Story; winning multiple sections at the Walter Kirby music competition and performing to an audience of
250,000 in a solo at Auckland's Coca-Cola Christmas in the Park.
The year culminated with the December release of Massad's debut album, Long Story Short, recorded
at York Street and HU05 studios. The album begins with a 'Pop' style before moving onto techno, African,Electro and classical.
Long Story Short includes singles Runaway, Help Me to Help You, I Really Don't Like You, Circus and more.
As he readies his second album, 2010 has seen Massad focusing on writing and live performances
(beginning with Parachute in January). In line with his goal of using music to help others, many of
Massad's performances in 2010 have been for charities: including Beats for Haiti, the Westlake Girls'
High School Anti Bullying concert; the Play it Strange fundraiser and a concert with Ivy Lies for UNICEF
Undercover (raising money to buy treated mosquito nets to protect kids from deadly
May's New Zealand Music Month saw Massad emerging as one of the winners at the Auckland Central
Smokefreerockquest finals
In June Massad won the SHC Legends competition, the Auckland University Songwriter of the Year

During 2010 Massad has featured on Radio Live, KiwiFM and in July is scheduled to appear on Balcony
TV and TV1s Good Morning show.
Massad is busy working on his second album with the goal of producing music that is regularly heard on
radio.
Although making his mark as a singer songwriter, Massad is regularly supported by a very talented
backing band made up of vocalists, concert harp(s), violin, drums, keyboards, guitar and bass.
