These are high dynamic range photographs of the interiors of three shopping centers in the Northern Virginia area (Tysons, Tysons Galleria, and Landmark). I was struck by the fact that with all their glass and lights, they almost look like secular "churches" hence the title.
I used my Canon EOS 5D Mark II SLR with a Canon L-series 17-40mm wide angle lens. I developed the pictures using Adobe Lightroom 2.3 and Photoshop Elements 7.0. I generated the raw photographs into HDR using Photomatix

This past Saturday I took these photographs at the Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt, Maryland. There is a small museum and rocket garden at the visitor center.
I used my Canon EOS 5D Mark II SLR with Canon L-series 24-105mm and 17-40mm short and wide angle zooms. For some of the shots, I used a Speedlite 580 EX-II as well. I developed the pictures using Adobe Lightroom 2.3 and Photoshop Elements 7.0. Inside Elements, I used the Topaz Adjust and Topaz Detail plug-ins.

Back in November I went to the National Arboretum for the first time. Not a whole lot was in bloom, but there were things worth photographing, such as the Bonsai, Penjing, chrysanthemum stones, and a handful of flowers.
I used my Canon EOS 5D Mark II with Canon L-series 24-105mm short zoom and 17-40mm wide angle lenses. I also used a Speedlite 580 EXII for some of the pictures.
I touched up the pictures using Adobe Lightroom 2.3 and Photoshop Elements 7.0. I used Photomatix Professional to create the high dynamic range shots of the Capitol Columns

I photographed this exciting game from the sidelines on behalf of someone in the sports news business. Even though the Redskins lost (I live near DC so I'm a fan by default), it was a tremendous experience. Being on the sidelines gives a perspective that being up in the stands cannot really rival.
I used both my Canon EOS 5D Mark II and my Canon EOS 7D. Some of the shots were taken with a Canon L-series 70-200mm short zoom and others were taken with the Canon L-series 300mm F2.8 IS prime (which is an amazing lens that I rented for the occasion). I developed the pictures in Adobe Lightroom 2.3 and Photoshop Elements 7.0. I used Topaz Adjust to enhance some of the pictures and Noiseware 2.0 to reduce graininess found in the high ISO ones.

These are pictures of one of the "technical nights" of the Washington Revels "Christmas Revels." It is basically a dress rehearsal on the stage where the performance takes place with all the lighting and assorted bells and whistles. The theme this year is the Italian Renaissance and the revels include Leonardo da Vinci, the Doge of Venice, and the comic maid "Smeralda."
I took these pictures using my Canon EOS 7D SLR (sometimes with benefit of a Speedlite 580 EX-II flash) using both a Canon L-series 24-105mm short zoom and a 70-200mm medium zoom. I developed the pictures in Adobe Lightroom 2.3 and Photoshop Elements 7.0. I used Topaz Adjust and Topaz Detail plug-ins to make some of the pictures pop or be sharper. I also used Noiseware 2.0 to reduce the graininess that shooting at high ISOs produces.
I've posted the picture set that this video came from at the flickr link below. If you wish to use any of the pictures for any publication, please let me know first (I won't charge for such usage but I want to be properly credited).

Love the Washington, D.C. tourist stuff. Have you ever been to the top of the bell tower at the National Cathedral?
