From December 1964. Same group as the Nobells. As "Crying Over You," it came out on the Mar label in April 1962..

Turns out that it WAS reissued with a different title. "La-De-Do-De-Do" was Million $ 2010 (Feb 55) and "Honey Bug" (same song) was #2016 (from around June 55).

ROBINS & 2 SHARPS & A NATURAL- RACE OF MAN

"Race Of Man" was based on an old poem by Sam Walter Foss (written in the late 1800s or early 1900s). The refrain to both the poem and the song went: "Let me live in a house by the side of the road/And be a friend to man." (And, no, poor old Sam Foss got no writer credit, nor, one suspects, any r...

Found the citation: RCA Victor 20-2231. Etta's version was released in March of 1947 (there's an ad for it in the 4/3/47 issue of Billboard). The Basin Street Boys were definitely ahead of her by about 9 months (they recorded it in May 1946 and it was advertised in the 6/29/46 issue of Billboard)..

Ray-O-Vacs - I'll Always Be In Love With You

I've just heard both versions from 1948 and I was wrong. The Sharp release IS the version by the Ray-O-Vacs. The X-Rays story that I told below is correct, but in addition, Lubinsky purchased the Coleman masters and that's what he put out here.

Didn't notice on the flip (My Mother's Eyes), but the Uniques are a band, not a group. Cromwell's is the only voice on either side. Any idea when this is from?

@hajune Bragg later claimed that Elvis was at the studio when they recorded, but that's just one of his stories. Elvis did visit the penitentiary later on and may have met Bragg, but not the way Bragg told the story. Consider that two of the Prisonaires had 99 year sentences and the both were rel...

The lead singer on this is Bill Brown. Billy Ward didn't often sing lead. He led: My Baby's 3-D, Cave Man, Handwriting On The Wall, Lay It On The Line, Little Black Train, Tootsie Roll, I Really Don't Want To Know, Come To Me Baby, Sweethearts On Parade, Deed I Do, Half A Love, Rock Plymouth Rock...
Nice side. Never heard this one before. Any idea if he was part of the Magichords? Both this and the flip, "Why Feel This Way About You," were written by Julius Dixon, which could just mean that the company gave Dixon's songs to both artists.
