"There were just the two of them, the island and the sea. It had been twenty years since they had been shipwrecked. Every morning the fisherman would go in his canoe in search of fish; the hunter would go into the forest in search of a small animal. After twenty years in which the deck of cards had saved them from desperation, the hunter yielded to his temptation and showed his friend how he did his tricks, he showed him all the strings of his marionette. Later they parted without speaking. The next day the hunter waited for his friend the fisherman and when night came he knew that the fisherman would never return. He was man who could not live without illusions, and he had gone in search of them, where life began: in the blue and arcane secrets of the deep sea."
