Not sure if that would have caused Coe .5 seconds with Chesire doing what he did. Maybe .2 seconds at best as he didn't have to slow down. However, look at how strong he finished. If this was a mile, I think 14 seconds for him in the last 100 was easily doable!! That would have been 3:44 flat or...

In the book Running Free, he said he hit the pace runners leg.....not the curb. I wonder what he would have run this race in if he had been trying to run a WR. He was more concerned about beating Boit rather than his time. I am guessing low 3:46 with the way he surged at the end. Maybe faster....?

Hey Deeno. Just watched the 2000 Olympic Final and was really impressed. What was Ngeny final 100 or 200m compared to Coe in 84? I think Coe could have beaten anybody that day, but Ngeny had a pretty impressive finish in that race!! Curious to your thoughts....Thanks!!
Coe was a beast in this rac...
