@n3r3var1n3, instrumentation doesn't matter. the melody is what's copyrighted, meaning the actual arrangement of pitches and rhythm. you can't take someone else's melody and call it your own regardless of who or what plays it.

hearing how he started makes me wonder how many other guys started like him. starting with EVH, going to Malmsteen, then going off from there. I know I started exactly the same way..
