In this video I demonstrate how diodes work in a manner you may not want to try at home. At least not without safety glasse...

lamp test also do work..try making your diode as a switch..if the lamp is too bright then your diode is broken. And if your lamp will go bright then gradually goes DIM your diode is still GOOD!
