About Me:
Irish guitarist Mark Anthony has performed and recorded in a number of genres throughout Europe and the U.S. He began his studies as a classical guitarist with John Feeley at the National College of Music in Dublin where he won several awards. He was soon experimenting with world music and improvisation whilst working as a session musician and producer with a variety of groups from Rock to Baroque music. In recent years he has increasingly turned his attention to Celtic music and is known in particular for his interpretations of the music of seventeenth century Irish harper, Turlough OCarolan. As a soloist he has released three albums spanning traditional Irish music through two arrangments of the work of Jacques Brel. Mark Anthony has composed extensively for film and theatre and recently broadcast a ten-minute guitar composition commissioned by RTÉ Lyric FM, the Irish public broadcasting music station.
Mark has recently performed at the Zeltik music festival, Dudelange, Luxembourg and the Kilkenny Arts Festival, on both occassions with organist Christian Wilson. In 2010 he completed a masters degree in Dublin and continues to perform and record in both Scotland and Ireland.
