The "English" are basically a curious mixture of the French and German tribes that settled and conquered the land many moons ago.

@soloasdubh ...Just to add, It certainly has an historic value, though, and (along with the Anglicized version of the ancient (yellow) flag of Ulster) shows how practised the British were at altering symbols to shape and rule conquered peoples.
