You assertion that the AF100 is a "real video camera" is sort of meaningless when you consider that the GH2 resolves more lines with less moire and aliasing.

Nice video review, but bokeh is not a.k.a. the depth-of-field. Bokeh is the quality of the blur both in the background or foreground.

So it's not as good as a HACKED GH2? The stupidest criticism I've ever heard. The GH2 has great resolution (I actually have one) but:

a) it cannot compete with a full-frame DSLR in low-light (see Joy Ride night shoots with bikers or girls. The GH2 would have barfed in light that low).

@sirtechy A nice camera, but nowhere near the GH2 for video. The problem is no manual video control (aperture, shutter speed) and no mic input. A nice camera for photography though. Mine is on the way!

@Eviktion I called a Zacuto ZFinder. It's great, but pricey. If your not ready to spend $400 on a LCD Viewfinder, there a tons of knock-offs available on Ebay, Amazon, etc. Look up LCDVF, or Carry Speed.

@ClankyRochet All Panasonic G zooms and telephotos have OIS (Optical Image Stabilizer). Any the wide and normal prime lenses don't have IS. I'm guessing this was filmed with the new 14-42 G X Vario "pancake" zoom, which apparently has improved OIS.

The D4 at ISO 3200 seems a lot cleaner than my 5D Mk II. Outstanding. Great job, as usual.

The lens seems to be a 70-200 VR II, but I think the lens hood is custom or third-party.

@JogBird Are you sure? Most DSLR camera kits come with at least a body cap. This is a pretty silly omission on Sony's part. So when you mount your Nikon lens, the NEX kit lens without a rear cap. This is surprising and pretty lame on Sony's part.

@ElectrofilmsENT Behind. All of the top DSLRs on DXOMark are Nikons. The D3X, D3s, D700 are all rated for better sensor performance. A have a 5D Mk II that is great, but I'm not such a fanboy to think that Nikon is behind anyone. They know how to build cameras, as we see with the D4.

NEX-5N does 1080/60p vs 720/60p for the Canon. This means the 5N will be significantly better if you want to do nice, smooth slo-mo at 1080. This is a big plus for the Sony. The Canon has much better lenses available for it, not only Canon glass, but lenses like the Tamron 17-50 and the Tokina...

@Xyb3rTeCh A77? Seriously? The 1DX doesn't even "own" the D4, and the A77 is not even in the same league. So I guess I'll be a moron, and record uncompressed video and rock a 14-24, a lens which Canon and Sony have no answer to.

I have this lens, and it's a bit on the heavy side. The IS does work well, but the f4 aperture is not ideal for low-light work.

@lowincash The D7000 has shutter sounds way softer and better than this 7D example.

Can't link to the D7000 shutter clip here, but it's easy to find. There is really no comparison with the D7000 sounding better. My 5D Mk II sounds like a car door slamming.

How do you "fix" the FD lenses so that you can adjust the aperture? I just bought an FD lens, but it only stays wide open. I know there's a trick that involves depressing some pin, but I can't seem to find it. Any ideas, or tutorials? Thanks.

@8bbell So really with my J1 there are only two options for getting accurate focus with adapted lenses: a focussing loupe like LCDVF, or an HDMI field monitor that has focus peeking. Without a hot-shoe to mount it on, a field monitor will require a rig with an articulating arm. Unfortunate be...

@TIMXU7704 In fairness, the Zacuto VFinder is pricey, but has great optics, a diopter, and best of all, the gorilla plate mounting solution is first rate. That said, I may try one of these for my GH2.

I watched this on Vimeo. It's one of the most inspiring shorts I've seen in a long time.

@sebsalomon1080 Please anyone shooting video, do not use anywhere near 1/500th of sec or worse, 1/1000th of sec. This is way too fast. Shutter speed should be double the frame rate. So shooting in 1080/24p, 1/50th of sec is where you want to be.

@danielernstfilms I guess it's top secret, but I would like to know as well.
