I shared a river boat with Dame Janet in the early 80s when a party of diners was taken up the Thames to the Royal Naval Hospital at Greenwich for a recital by Dame Janet. Such a wonderful occasion.
If you can get hold of the Schumann I do recommend it. I have it only on my scratchy old vinyl copy but it must be reissued somewhere.
Thanks a million for the postings. I do prefer this opera sung from the French libretto but Dame Janet can sing in Swahili if she likes! It will still be beautiful.
