OMD - Maid of Orleans 2010
Live at Büsum/North Sea/Germany Released 1982
If Joan of Arc Had a heart Would she give it as a gift
To such as me Who longs to see How an angel ought to be
Had dreams to give Her heart away Like an orphan on the way
She cared so much She offered up Her body to the grave

Simple Minds performing "Factory" live at the Paradiso, Amsterdam, Netherlands September 17th 2005. It seems as though the band really loved this song. It was performed live from late 1979 until March 1982 at nearly every gig. It was re-instated to the set list a few times late 2005- early 2006.
Best viewed 1080p.
Lyrics (album version.....different order here!) :- (About "Men at church" or "A certain problem")
To the passage in time the sentence I learn Up and down, going round Going round 'till we drown again
I'm gonna set myself up, I'm gonna up to the top Up to the top, to the top I'm going down to the ground Going round 'til we drown Going round 'till we drown again
Factory, Imitation of life, Factory We all go out to lunch A certain ratio we know has left us unaware Someone else has taken leave, someone who did care Elevators just don't crash, the answer lies within Elevators Elevators, answer lies within
To the glittering prize, to the fool in the sky I've got a jewel in my eye I'm going up, coming down Going round 'til we drown Going round till we drown again
To the centre of the man Because he had a plan He had a plan to escape But now we've got it on tape Going up, coming down Going around, going round till we drown again

To coincide with Simple Minds' forthcoming, unique intimate 16-date 5 X 5 European tour, EMI will release a limited edition box set. X5 features the bands first five albums - Life In A Day, Real To Real Cacophony, Empires and Dance, Sons and Fascination/Sister Feelings Call and New Gold Dream (81-82-83-84), which celebrates its 30th anniversary next year -- plus very rare bonus material.
Simple Minds - named after a lyric from David Bowie's 'Jean Genie' -- were formed in Glasgow in 1977 from the ashes of short-lived punk band Johnny and The Self Abusers. By 1979 the band had built an incredible live following and, after signing to Arista, released their debut album Life In A Day, which was produced by the legendary John Leckie (as would be their next two albums). A predominately post-punk album - though with the band's glam influences shining through, especially Roxy Music - it never the less hinted at Jim Kerr and Charlie Burchill's future songwriting prowess, particularly in the brilliant life-affirming title track and the songs 'Someone' and 'Chelsea Girl'.
