About this user
From a very young age Marc has always had a passion for music but it was only in his early teens that he discovered the world of drums. Joining with Dave Green (The Filthy Souls) he started his first band, The People. Gaining relative success and a management/record contract Marc started to tour the Uk and released his first E.p in 2002, The better days EP. In 2003 Marc was spotted and asked to session for a band called Aisle Seven, a pop rock band based in Wigan. After a very successful audition Marc began to play live shows and work in the studio with them. Not long after The People went their separate ways Marc joined Aisle Seven full time and under a new name, Inglory, started to tour the UK with a new single: The Art of War (Recorded by Joe Gibb at the Mighty Atom Studios - Funeral for a Friend, Bullet for my Valentine, Hondo McLean) sharing a stage with such bands as Enter Shikari and Kids in Glass Houses. In 2005 Marc was asked to join progressive rock band The Volunteers (The volunteers had received critical acclaim in the late 80s). Being the youngest member of the band by a clear 20 years this wasnt an easy task but Marc rose to the challenge and was regarded as one of the bands most capable drummers in their history. The Volunteers soon gained a management contract and went on to work in the world famous Parr Street Studios, Liverpool. Working with Jon Withnal (Coldplay) to create their first studio album with the current line up. Not long after recording this Jon contacted Marc to go into the studio with a solo artist, Mike Ryder. A very talented young singer song writer who had won a competition to work with Jon for the day (www.myspace.com/michaelryder). After recording a second studio album at Elevator Studios (The Subways, The Zutons) the band split due to other commitments and Marc returned to Inglory to carry on touring. During this time Marc went on the road with the band Fightstar to help out as a drum tech for the band The Hollywood Ending. After recording a new E.p with a new singer Inglory split and Marc moved into working as a freelance session musician working with local producers and engineers (John Kettle: The Tansads, Marble Index and Steven Kerry: Engineer to Fightstar). In 2007 original band mate Dave Green, who had been working as a solo artist, needed to put a band around him to take the next step in his career. Dave approached Marc to join the band (now named The Filthy Souls). With a US tour under his belt and a return trip to Los Angeles planned for July 09 Marcs drumming career has only just begun.
