Martial Arts - Itay Gil
This playlist is an archive of videos compiled about Israel self defense expert Itay Gil and his company Protect. Itay Gil is considered the most experienced close combat trainer in Israel, and his company is the official training body for the Israel Secret Service, as well as elite undercover counter-terrorism units.
Not only is Itay Gil a consummate martial artist and former head trainer of Krav Maga and tactical self defense for the national border police and the YAMAM, but he was also a career field operator who was deployed on hundreds of missions under various agencies. Itay has engaged in the capture of wanted terrorists as well as live fire engagements with enemy combatants. He was wounded in combat, ending his active duty career.
As a fighter, Chris Dolman of Rings Holland once remarked that he was the best 80kg fighter he had ever seen. Itay is an exceptional and well rounded martial artist and holds the rank of 6th Dan in Kenpo Jitsu under Gadi Skornik. Itay studied Muay Thai from the age of 8, Kyokoshin standup fighting, Sambo, Judo catch wrestling and numerous other styles. He was an undefeated full contact fighter in the Bushido league for 5 consecutive years until his retirement due to a back injury incurred during his military duty.
A brief history of Kenpo Jitsu and the founder
Lt.Col. (ret.) Gadi Skornik is the founder of Kenpo Jitsu. He was born in France (during the 2nd World War).
At the age of 17 he immigrated to Israel where he joined the IDF in a commando unit. He had excelled in the martial arts for many years.
After his military service he became a key figure in the local martial arts scene, and one of the first Israelis that went to Japan in order to learn direct from the source.
Returning from Japan's Kodokan he dedicated his time to teaching, raising generations of Judokas and promoting martial arts in Israel.
As a competitor he dominated the Israeli Judo scene in the heavy & open weight categories for 14 consecutive years in both national and international competitions.
His impressive talent and know-how caught the attention of the local law-enforcement and military training centers, which invited him to train their operational units.
Being a combatant by nature, he insisted on joining his trainees in actual operations and battles, applying and perfecting his craft in real action.
In recognition of his continuous contribution to the army in general, its special units in particular and his active participation in 3 major wars he received the rank of Lieutenant Colonel.
Based on his extensive field experience Gad Skornik developed his own unique martial art - "Skornik Israeli Combat" that combines: Jiu Jitsu, Karate, Aikido and the usage of modern firearms.
Recognized by the international Martial Arts Committee in Japan; Gad Skornik was promoted to 10th Dan and given the "Kancho" title (A title given to creators and principal masters of distinct fighting styles).
