About this user
Worldwide children are commercially sexually exploited through sex tourism, trafficking, pornography and prostitution. Everyday in every country, children (defined as anyone under 18) are violated, abused, and traded for profit. But there's something you can do to help fight it:
1) Visit the websites of organizations working to fight these crimes: www.ecpatusa.org, www.polarisproject.org, www.sagesf.org, www.catwinternational.org, www.gems-girls.org, www.ijm.org, www.sharedhope.org, and many others. Learn more, then share what you've learned with others. Copy and paste the links to these videos into emails to friends or embed them on your site.
2) Support the travel industry's fight against child sex tourism by learning about The Code of Conduct. Hotels, travel agencies and airlines sign on and agree to a 6 point plan to combat it through awareness, training, and other efforts. Visit www.thecode.org to read more and see there a list of businesses who have signed on. The list is in the Monitoring link under Signatories Database. Patronize these businesses when you travel.
3) Donate to one or many of the great organizations who are saving children through education, legislation, working with law enforcement, speaking on the behalf of the abused and poor.
4) If you travel, donate to one of the organizations in the community who are saving and caring for abused children and battling commercial sexual exploitation of children in their country.
5) Encourage more businesses to sign The Code of Conduct by signing and mailing a letter. You can download the letter here www.ecpatusa.org/help.asp under "Write to your Travel or Tourism Company." Tell them to use their powerful business voice to protect children on their properties and inform their guests.
6) Link to these videos, embed them on your site, share them with others. Start a meet-up on your campus, in your school, in your church, in your community and talk about how you can help fight this horrible crime.
Thanks for your help.
