Mara Foundation

Mara Foundation is a social enterprise that designs and implements programmes that promote entrepreneurship and education, currently working in Uganda and Kenya and with a vision to expand across Sub-Saharan Africa.


We take an entrepreneurial approach to meeting the region's challenges, and we look for opportunities to make the biggest impact we can. For example, our mentorship programme is structured to be competitive and demand-driven.

We were born out of Mara Group, a pan-African group of companies set up by our founder, Ashish J. Thakkar. His vision is to apply his success as a business entrepreneur to meeting some of the region's social challenges.
