@seasonkickoff Maybe you're just a Proby hater then, with remarks like "vocal mishmash" etc. I use my real name here and it's no secret that I promote P.J. Proby. Why should it? Are promoters not entitled to their opinions? You're the one with secrets, as you don't even have the guts to use your ...

@seasonkickoff
In Europe we respect each others opinions and we do not stoop to name calling and don't get personal. I would love to have a serious discussion with Jerry Jackson fans, where ever they are. Sadly, here on YouTube it seems to be impossible to stick to the subject. Could you please ...

@seasonkickoff Thanks for taking the trouble to listen to PJs 1965 version. I remember the opinions in the Sixties about P.J. Proby were just as opposed as they are now. You either loved him or hated him. There's no in between. It's the story of his life and I'm sure we'll never agree on YouTube ...

I guess you are sampling the two recordings of one song,because you would want people's comments. I definitely prefer Proby's version here, but his 1965 rendition with great orchestra backing is the ultimate version ever. Proby's second LP certainly wasn't a flop in Holland. I'll always remember ...

@BearGrove Great you posted it on your forum as well! How did you discover that Proby was in this footage? A woman posted the footage on P.J. Proby's FaceBook Wall a little bit earlier: Monday 2 January at 01:48 AM. :) Have a look. Never mind. I'm glad Proby news travels fast! I think FaceBook is...

Hi MaximumVolumable, Thanks for posting. You've made a lot of P.J. Proby fans very happy. It would be good if you could tag the footage with "P.J. Proby" as it would give you a lot more views. @srvprezmgmt I'm not out to prove anything :), I'm merelu trying to piece together some history. so let's stick to the facts. P.J. Proby made demos for a living in Hollywood in the beginning of the Sixties. He did so for Metric Music (Liberty's songwriters department), for songwriters Ben Weisman...

@srvprezmgmt Thank you for the info! I've looked up Sonny Hendrix and he's also written a song for the Elvis Movie Roundabout. It is my guess that Run to the Movies was one of the songs P.J. Proby demoed for either this Elvis movie or one before and the song wasn't chosen for the movie in the end...

Thank you for the upload, Casper33. I'm interested in everything regarding P.J. Proby and have always regretted that nothing is to be found on the Internet on his performance of Spider Rabbit. Elvis Presley Dying On Stage
rate and comment
very impressive performance... doesn't look as if he's about to die, except for the overweight which is an extra risk of course.Still very powerful! In fact I think he's more convincing than in his younger years... a true artist.

Great song written by Les Reed! Jerry Vale does a great job. However, nobody could sing this with such feeling as P.J. Proby. Please check out Proby's version on YouTube...

@bveecon
P.J. Proby has listened to this song. He has never heard the song before. This is not his voice and he has never aspired to be "a Cricket". This is definitely not P.J. Proby singing.

The Crickets sing "Fell In Love With A Face", from 1962.

Sadly, Brian Matthew was misinformed. P.J. Proby has never heard the song before and never aspired to be "A Cricket". This is definitely not P.J. Proby.

Well, If George was a member of the Tee Set that must have been for a very brief time, as Tee Set history doesn't mention him. I grew up in Amsterdam in the Sixties and I've never heard of any of his bands. I'm not really impressed with George at all. However, if he is a Proby fan, he's a friend ...

Thanks for the detailed information. Where do you get all the old charts? Do you also know how high Hold Me and I Apologise went? And the other hits of P.J. Proby?
It would be interesting to hear George Barendse's own story about this song and why he recorded it....

I do not think George was a member of the Tee Set. Nothing to be found in their history. About George Bethlehem:

Interesting! I only know that Today I Killed A Man by P.J. Proby was sort of a hit in Holland! It's the song that Proby is best remembered by in Holland. It may have something to do with the Dutch anti-Vietnam war sentiments in the Sixties. I had never heard this single either.... Of course I rem...

@grizzlygalore
Why doubt it's Proby? You don't deny Elvis learned the songs for the movies from demo's, do you? Ben Weisman states in one of his interviews he used P.J. Proby as a demo singer. P.J. Proby tells us in an interview in 1964 on YouTube that he's done loads of the demos, from Kid Gala...
