Making a musical quote in live performance as part of improvisation is not sampling. If you were a musician who practiced and composed you'd know the difference and would object when someone else electronically copied your work and claimed it as theirs (plagiarism). No props for thieves.

You cut out the applause. Applause is a musician's reward for performance. Always get ALL of the applause to get the feeling of live performance. Let the listener decide when it should end. Listening to any of Keith Jarrett's performances will tell you that.
