I'm surprised no one has mentioned Roberto Plano. Argerich is awesome -- in the sense that she truly inspires awe--but Plano gives me the gaucho riding over the pampas, the horse galloping yet under control, the joyful bursts of melody interrupting the pattern of the hooves.

Re tempo: it's a quandary. The metronome marking is crotchet = 63-66, with the central section at crotchet = 60 --which does sound quite fast for this piece.
