Afrocentrics say that we come from Africa solely based on phenotype. Although we are aware of where mankind originated from, let's not forget that based on DNA evidence, ALL non-African people descend from the same mitochondrial Eve who left eastern Africa into the Arabian peninsula 85,000 years ago. So those in Asia & Europe are these so called "Africans" too. Africans come from Africa. Human migration is a little different if we're talking millenia, because if that's the case, then one could argue that we're Asian and that Asians are Africans, etc.
Then there's the element of race classification, as Afrocentrics like to claim "African", the more generic description, given that majority of these Afrocentrics are Black Americans who have been decultured from their African roots by White America. In their eyes, equality means doing everything in their power to put them at the top of the social-economic ladder & the easiest way to begin is by undermining & marginalizing indigenous cultures who are the only ones who continue to practice their traditions since the beginning of time.
RACE: The social concept of "race" began as early as 1735 after a Swedish botanist - Carolus Linnaeus categorized humans into 4 categories based on what he classified as people who attributed inherited biological & learned cultural characteristics that could be classified into these 4 categories. Throughout time, that has changed to 3 categories, to 4, and anywhere from 6 to 30.
Some say that we, the Hawaiian people are of one race. Sometimes it is said that we are of the Polynesian race. These are merely social constructs, depending on what & how we need to be defined, a particular lable could be used. We are better known as Kanaka, Maoli, Kanaka Maoli or Kanaka 'Oiwi, not Africans. The Africans come from the large continent of Africa where there are many nations in which each nation can have many tribes, ethnicities or groups of various people. We, the Kanaka 'Oiwi come from ko Hawai'i Pae 'Aina & our ancestors have been in these islands for centuries while some may have come from places known as Nu'uhiwa, Polapola, Kahikiku, Kahikimoe, Kahikikapapauaakane, Kuaihelani & many other places, all not of Africa.
